The Elite Rugby Academy works with a unique coaching team composed of former and current International Players as we aim to develop great people and great players. By giving our players an insight into rugby at an Elite Level we’re providing the players of tomorrow with the right skills to succeed at the highest level.
Players are invited to join the Academy through our trials and scouting programme, where we observe the best young players at school and club level. The programme is built on the belief that you must coach the person, before the player; and that great people - are great players.
Our state of the art software allows each player to develop through access to video analysis tools, our knowledge base and ongoing interaction with the coaching team.
The Training Phase of the programme is designed to support and enhance each player during their Rugby Union season, when players will have potential commitments for their Community Club, County Programme and even DPP's. As a result the loading of each athlete is carefully considered to ensure they can balance the demands of rugby and life. We meet monthly for a 3 hour session that covers an array of Education, performance monitoring, video analysis and on field training.
Throughout this phase we continue the interaction with each player setting them tasks and work to complete in between sessions. These range from video analysis clipping - where the player can learn so much about their own game, to lifestyle tasks that will enhance aspects like their nutrition, sleep and hydration.

TRAINING PHASE

CAMP PHASE
Our camp phase runs in the off season, this is what we refer to as an all important transition phase of an athlete. Rather than see it was down time - it should instead be looked on as a transition period from the previous season to the next, when the body can be rested in some respects - but also can be enhanced in others.
There exists the opportunity to work on foundational areas that can be neglected in the intensity of a long season. One of these key areas of Core Skills - which is exactly the focus of our 3 day Elite Rugby Camps.
These camps give each player the opportunity to challenge themselves in an inclusive and elite environment with other players who have similar ambition, drive and dedication,
COMPETITION PHASE
During the competition phase, training increases to weekly and we reduce our educational component in favour of a shorter 2 hour weekly session, designed to ensure each player is ready for the various playing opportunities.
In the first instance we play a North vs South 3 game State of Origin series. We then move into a series of games against other Academies, DPP's and even international representative teams - which is an incredible opportunity for any young player.
During this period our programme interacts with the coaches of other pathways that may be suitable for the player to join at the right stage. This structure allows us to offer each player the right path for them - to maximise their player development opportunities.
